International Peatland Congress excursions

Latvia is home to natural bogs, peat extraction sites, and bogs that have regenerated naturally or through human intervention. Some are used for agriculture and forestry—including the cultivation of paludiculture crops such as moss, reeds, black alder, and berries. Latvian cities have even been built on bogland. We will explore all of this, along with Latvia’s most significant and beautiful tourist attractions, during the excursion days of the International Peatland Congress. Our itinerary includes trips to Rundāle Palace, Cēsis, and Kuldīga, as well as walking tours to discover Riga’s hidden gems and Art Nouveau masterpieces.
